December 15, 2009 - 3rd Alarm - 9 Lauderdale Ave.
December 15, 2009 - 4:12pm - North Command - "B" Shift
Shortly after work was done in the basement of this 8,000 square foot mansion, smoke was spotted. TFS crews arrived to find fire advancing through the walls and into the first floor. As lines were advanced, flames broke out in several rooms and burst from the windows, threatening the houses next door. Crews were pulled from the building as conditions became unstable, and ground ladders and a ladder pipe were used as the blaze consumed the 2nd floor and burned through the roof. Guns and ammunition were also stored in the building, adding considerably to the risks. Eventually, the floors collapsed and even the contents of the 3 car garage were consumed. It took several hours to control the $2 million outbreak which gutted the entire 2-storey structure, and crews were on scene throughout the next day.
