Anxious moments resulted from this smoky fire in refuse in a storage are behind a restaurant as the noxious fumes penetrated a 3-storey brick building next door. Several tenants were trapped in their apartments and had to be rescued, at least one by ladder. Four people were taken to hospital for smoke inhalation, another was treated on scene. Damage was $25,000, and the cause is under investigation.
