November 28, 2009 - 10:22am - East Command - "D" Shift
A basement water heater ignited nearby combustibles, and flames were spreading through the lower level of this single storey brick dwelling on arrival. P233 crew advanced a line and knocked down the flames but then discovered the gas supply was leaking and all crews were withdrawn until Enbridge shut down the feed. The fire had refreshed itself in the meantime and had to be controlled once again, with some extension to the first floor. Damage was $50,000.
