With smoke filling the interior and pushing from the eaves of the single storey brick portion of this backsplit dwelling, crews were pulling ceilings when flames broke through and began rolling 10' above. A defensive stance was adopted while A231's monitor was used to knock down the heavy fire which removed much of the roof. Six handlines were deployed inside and out, and the fire was prevented from reaching the 2-storey brick rear section. The cause of the $300,000 incident is under investigation.
