August 18, 2010 - 2nd Alarm - 20 Burnfield Ave.
August 18, 2010 - 1:25pm - South Command - "B" Shift
Heavy smoke was emanating from the basement of this 2-storey brick house and P344 crew went in with a line to control the fire. As crews searched the dwelling, they located 34 cats and a dog, with all but four of the cats already deceased. The home was being used as an informal cat shelter and the animals were everywhere. A second line was used to cut off fire that had spread in the walls, but the loss is $400,000. The cause is believed to be an overheated dryer.
