January 15, 2010 - 12:25am - South Command - "A" Shift
A passer-by noticed flames in a ground floor display window at Honest Ed's, a large 3-storey brick emporium, and called 911. When crews arrived, the blaze had broken through the glass and was rolling up the front of the building. It was quickly contained and prevented from extending into the sales area, but there was extensive smoke damage and the loss will likely exceed $250,000. An electrical problem was the cause.
