July 4, 2010 - 3rd Alarm - 847 Dundas St. West
July 4, 2010 - 3:03pm - South Command - "D" Shift.
Downtown crews pulled up at the corner of Dundas and Euclid to find flames roaring up the back and through the roof of a pair of 3-storey frame semis, and rolling through the attic area of a 3-storey brick restaurant and apartments. A third alarm was quickly requested. T331 and A315 used ladder pipes, along with P332's deck gun to knock down the 20' flames, but the blaze had extended into the walls and ignited a 2-storey frame dwelling at exposure #2. Smoke blanketed the area as numerous hand lines were used to contain the outbreak in about two hours. Relay pumping was required here as well. High heat and humidity, along with the age of the structures hampered firefighting. All three fire buildings were gutted and the loss exceeds $1 million. The investigation into the cause and seat of the fire continues.
