As Beaches fire crews responded to this 3-storey brick apartment building, neighbours reported that an elderly woman was still inside the burning first floor apartment. Station 226 and 227 entered the unit and knocked down the fire in a bedroom, removing the 93-year-old victim and commencing CPR outside. Paramedics rushed her to hospital in critical condition, with burns and smoke inhalation. She later died in hospital. The cause of the $45,000 blaze is under investigation. © GTMAA Trumpet
