Kitchen fire in an apartment above stores. Residents were cooking when a power failure occurred, when the power returned the unattended food caught fire. Firefighters knocked down the ensuing blaze in short order, and managed to rescue one cat, but a 2nd cat succumbed to smoke inhalation.
