The blaze in the basement of a 3-storey brick rooming house was well established on arrival of P325 and smoke was poring from every opening. Things worsened as the attack with two lines pressed on and flames extended into the walls and also next door. The fire was knocked down and the walls opened up, limiting damage to the 18th century building to $125,000. A pot on the stove ignited the fire, and two TFS members were treated for minor burns.
