Danforth Collegiate Institute and Technical School was evacuated after a fire started in a classroom, sending heavy smoke through the ventilation system. The fire originated in a storage area at the rear of a windowless drama room on the main floor, making it very difficult to ventilate. Firefighters had to deal with zero visibility and high heat conditions. Four lines, including 65mm were used to knock the blaze down. Everyone inside the building managed to escape safely, although one TFS Captain was treated for exhaustion due to the high heat conditions.
